This jacket was born out of a collaboration with my dear friend and incredibly talented photographer, Emily Capisciolto (@emcapphoto& @emilycapisciolto). Emily approached me with the idea of creating a piece that would bring her photography into the world of textiles, and immediately I was all in.

What made it even more special was the imagery she wanted to use from a trip to Mexico. By incorporating those memories into fabric, the jacket became more than just wearable art; it became a vessel for memories.

Emily’s work has always moved me. Her ability to capture the emotional undercurrents of nature, especially water, is nothing short of magical. Her show, Emotere, which opened on September 11, 2025 at Tomfoolery Gallery in Grand Rapids, Michigan was an exhibition that brought together her photography, poetry, and a newly released book, all centered on the deep connections between water and human emotion.

Adding this jacket to the mix felt like such a natural extension of her work. Just as water is fluid and ever-changing, upcycling allows garments to evolve, taking on new forms, new meaning, and new life.

To me, this collaboration is more than just a creative experiment. It’s a reflection of how art, sustainability, and storytelling can intersect. By reusing an existing garment and layering it with Emily’s imagery, we created something that not only honors her art but also celebrates a memory we hold dear.

Care Instructions

Canvs is water resistant which makes it very easy to spot wash when needed. For a thorough wash - handwash cold, hang to dry. Iron OK on low/medium.
